INTRODUCTION

Development Report Magazine is an online publication, published by Electronic Solutions, that focuses on reporting nonprofit activities in Nigeria and Africa in general. The online publication focuses on issues relating to charity, development, philanthropy and related activities. It seeks to provide the information needed to bridge the gap between the philanthropist and the needy.

OUR VISION

We work towards being the leading and obverse promoter of charity and developmental projects in Africa.

OUR MISSION

With the power of Media and Information Technology we dedicate ourselves to the promotion of humane and life enhancing activities by creating pathways that link the philanthropist to the needy.

The magazine will organize capacity building training for youths with the aim of raising social entrepreneurs that will work in solving some of the problems in society that the magazine identifies. The magazine will also run awareness campaigns on developmental, charity issues affecting the society.

THE NEED

Africa is the most impoverished continent in the world. Nigeria, in the midst of wealth still has a good percentage of its population living below the poverty level. However there exists a lot of affluence in some parts. The society needs more balance.

There are a lot of people in the society today both home and abroad that have the intention of giving, but do not know how to go about it. They lack the necessary information on how they can donate out of their wealth to charity.  On the other side of the coin, there are individuals that seek help, but do not know where to get such help.  Development Report Magazine has come to fill this gap. Our publication is tailored towards providing the necessary information needed by the philanthropist and the needy.

 WHAT WE HAVE DONE

So far, we have the magazine in online version and we have used all social media to promote it. We have been able to create awareness for the magazine both in Nigeria and in diaspora. It is our hope that the mission and vision is achieved as the magazine is being read. The online version is available at www.developmentreport.org

We are currently working on the third edition. The magazine will be published in print quarterly. We shall have four editions in a year and each print edition will contain stories of four online editions.

WHAT WE INTEND TO DO

We have realized that majority of our target audience in Nigeria do not have access to the internet. We intend to publish the magazine in print with the partnership of organizations like yours and distribute freely in public places.

We intend to print about 3,000 copies and distribute to Ministries, Libraries, NGO’s, Banks, Schools and other public places that will ensure the maximum exposure of the magazine. We intend to with your support, promote charity causes through this print version.

We are currently working on two projects on the platform of Development Report Magazine. They are:

  1. SUPPORT AN ORPHAN:  We are running this project in partnership with The Young Nigerian CEO’s, a group of young, upwardly mobile Nigerians who run their personal enterprises. The Project involves mobilizing youths in business to pay a visit to an orphanage, where they come with gifts and cash donation to support the orphans. The aim of this visit is to create a help culture amongst Nigerians. This first of such visits is billed to take place on the 9th of August 2008 and we will be visiting the Modupe Cole Orphanage at Akoka, Lagos.
  2. THE REAL NIGERIA PROJECT:  This is an essay competition amongst youth of 18 – 30 years of age. It involves the youth identifying the Millennium Development Goals, and then looking at societal issues that are related to any of this goals. They are expected to proffer practicable solutions that would bring Nigeria from the mess that she is in presently and take her to the place she is supposed to be. The winners of the essay competition will be awarded cash prices and their winning entries will be published on our website. The aim of this project is to involve youth in the Nation building process.
