The Tsunami Experience

So much loss and so much pain -

On Boxing Day the Tsunami came

Its wall of death approached the shore

Where life was life

Was life

No more.

That violent roar, that crushing wave

And life had gone

For here’s the grave

The souls have left the ravaged shore

And only broken hearts remain.

On Boxing Day

Tsunami came

Consuming all

With pain.

The fellowship of humankind

Recoiled before its greed

On Boxing Day

Tsunami came

A glutton

With a greed.

Mother Nature is our foe

And with our lives she toys

Her moods affect our daily lives -

Far worse when she’s annoyed.

We’ll cry our tears, we’ll feel for you

But still we’ll carry on

Because on Boxing Day

The Tsunami came

And the life you knew was gone.

I cannot feel your pain inside

But still I try to do

I am still here and you have died

But truly I’ve died too.

I cannot stop the hands of time

To bring you back again

Nor could I stop that wave of crime

The day Tsunami came.

I pray to God to shelter us

Also our souls to keep

To see no more Tsunami graves

Not even in my sleep.

I fear the worst and that I curse -

For that I am ashamed

But humankind will always hurt

And Nature will be blamed.
